ART IN THE CITY: STOCKHOLM
We celebrate art from around the world by asking our MUNTHE muses what art means to them and how it shapes the cities they call home. With Art in the City, we aim to inspire, connect, and celebrate the vibrant creativity and culture that make each place unique.
In this month’s edition, our Swedish muse Emma Fridsell, takes us through her favorite art galleries and museums in her city, Stockholm. You can watch the full video here.
Nationalmuseum
Nationalmuseum is my quiet haven in the city. I could wander the galleries for hours, just soaking up the beauty. Seeing old literal works of art and design makes me pause and remember that people have been creating incredible things for centuries. Remembering this helps me put my own little challenges into perspective and appreciate craft and timeless style. In a world that is falling apart, it feels safe to know that some things stay magical no matter what.

Moderna Museet
Moderna Museet gives me energy and joy. Human sized mushrooms and chicken breast shaped heels make me feel like a child again. Right now, I am also so excited to wander around the Picasso exhibitions. His use of colour and form feels alive and free. Seeing bold shapes and playful compositions always sparks ideas for how I mix patterns and silhouettes in my wardrobe.

ArkDes
I come to ArkDes to celebrate design in every form. Right now, they are showing The Women’s Building Forum, a colorful and powerful reminder of how women have shaped our spaces and challenged a male dominated architecture world. That focus on community, everyday life and brave ideas really inspires how I think about clothes and style. It is about finding beauty in purpose and meaning.

Studio Canteen
Studio Canteen is my perfect stop during a museum day. The restaurant was founded by chef Mario Ringborg, who I have been a huge fan of ever since I visited her first place, Garba. She presents the most beautiful dishes without overcomplicating things. The space is beautiful yet creative and fun.
